Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an effective tool for changing negative, self defeating thought patterns that can lead to problems such as depression and anxiety. Telephone Counselling can help in situations where it is clients live in remote areas, are housebound or disabled,have busy lifestyles or young children, are agoraphobic etc and is also available through Skype. Crisis Counselling enables the client to work through a traumatic event and cope with the associated symptoms. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) is normally in group therapy after an incident, for example: a hostage situation. Hypnotherapy is a non-intrusive method of therapy that works with the clients subconscious mind through relaxation and visualisation to bring about positive change at a deeper level of perception and belief systems. Individually or combined these therapeutic modalities can be of help with a range of problems including anxiety, low self esteem, work related issues, assertiveness training, smoking cessation, weight loss, confidence amongst many other issues.
Face to Face Therapy Sessions
After the initial CBT consultation we would start work on your particular issue by looking at your beliefs about it aiming to change or modify those beliefs so you can look at yourself and the problem in a more realistic way. We would then look at practical ways of tackling the problem by working together on possible strategies and techniques that you could try out in situations outside of the cognitive behavioural therapy sessions. The techniques are explained in more detail on the cognitive behavioural therapy pages. At the beginning of the CBT sessions we would talk about your experiences of trying out the techniques and would then work together on how to progress and improve on what you have achieved in your day to day life.
After the initial Hypnotherapy consultation we would work on your issue using all the information gathered in the consultation. I would guide you into comfortable state of relaxation and use techniques to work on your problems at a deeper level of awareness. A more in depth explanation can be found on the hypnotherapy pages.
Skype / Telephone Sessions
With Skype or telephone therapy sessions the principles of treatment are the same but the sessions will be conducted remotely using computer or landline. You can choose to have a video session or not but the choice is entirely yours. You then contact me at the allotted time and we then proceed with the therapy session.
